The Church of St Mary the Virgin, known locally as the 'Cathedral of the Moors', was founded by Cadwaldr Fendigaid and stands above the fenland and the road to Aberwythel, Magor's long vanished port. No traces of the early church remain and the present building was built mainly in the 13th and 15th Centuries, although some early Romanesque work dating from the 12th Century is to be seen in the north wall of the Chancel.

Redwick, St. Thomas
Redwick church is dedicated to St. Thomas, althought an earlier dedication, when it belonged to Tintern Abbey, appears to have been St. Michael; it is held with Magor. It's enbattled and pinnacled central tower containing five bells, two of which are of date circa 1350-80. has apparently been completed in its upper stage in Perpendicular style. A tablet on the exterior wall of the south porch commemorates the height of the Great Flood of 1606 and a small scratch dial appears on the opposite buttress with a few other attempts.

The registers date from 1787.
