Bettws is a small parish adjoining St. Woolas on its northern side, within three miles of Newport, situate between Malpas and Bassalleg parishes on the road to Henllys.It is in the Rural Deanery of Newport and Archdeaconry of Newport. PLACES OF WORSHIP.-The Church. dedicated to St. David, is a small building with nave and chancel only, and stands in the centre of a large churchyard on the highest spot in theparish. The living, attached to Henllys in 1877, is held by Rev. H. James. Churchwardens, Brinley L. Thomas and E. J. Brewer. The registers of baptism and burials date from the year 1696, and marriages 1756. Service on alternate Sundays at 11.0 a.m. and 6.30 p.m. Sexton, Mrs. H. Barton. Letters are delivered from Newport, daily at 8 a.m., the nearest Post office being Malpas. There is a letter box near the Mill, cleared 9.45 a.m. and 5 p.m. Civil Servants Sports Club and a Mill. PARISH COUNCIL.-B. L. Thomas (Church Farm), J. Stephens (Ynys-y-fro), Wm, Hopkins, E. J.
