The Village
Bettws Newydd is a small village about 3 ½ miles north of Usk. On the pleasant surrounding hills are many
tumuli and at Coed-y-bwnydd "the wood of the gentry" (locally, Coed Bonnet), is a large camp with a
massive mound protecting the entrance at the east and several lines of entrenchments at that side.
